Jane Monheit – Over The Rainbow (2002)

June 10, 2008

Another performance from the Rainbow Room. sings an old classic by Judy Garland. A lot of jazz artists have taken a liking to this song, probably because of the plaintive melody and the sentiment behind it. There’s a lot of the song to meld and shape into a personal interpretation, because it speaks to all of us, I believe. The dreams of the little child in each of us are held and embraced in this quiet song of hope, and Jane is no stranger to dreams coming true.

***

Somewhere over the rainbow
Way up high
There’s a land that I heard of
Once in a lullaby

Somewhere over the rainbow
Skies are blue
And the dreams that you dare to dream
Really do come true
