Jane Monheit – Over The Rainbow (2002)
June 10, 2008Another performance from the Rainbow Room.
Jane Monheit sings an old classic by Judy Garland. A lot of jazz artists have taken a liking to this song, probably because of the plaintive melody and the sentiment behind it. There’s a lot of the song to meld and shape into a personal interpretation, because it speaks to all of us, I believe. The dreams of the little child in each of us are held and embraced in this quiet song of hope, and Jane is no stranger to dreams coming true.

Somewhere over the rainbow
Way up high
There’s a land that I heard of
Once in a lullaby
Somewhere over the rainbow
Skies are blue
And the dreams that you dare to dream
Really do come true
